Story of Muhammad Amir Rise & Fall
Pakistani Fast Bowler Muhammad Amir |
Fate usually gives only one
chance, opportunity knocks only once, but blessed are those to whom it gives a
second chance to rise again. Pakistan fast bowler Muhammad Amir is one of those
lucky people to whom fate has given a second chance.
Muhammad Amir is a left-arm
fast bowler, played his first international match in July 2009, at the age of
17. After his breakthrough, everyone started praising him. Ex-Pakistani players
Rameez Raja and Waseem Akram said about him that "he (Amir) is much clever
than Akram". His future seemed bright to everyone but suddenly he commit a
blunder of spot-fixing, he was just 18 at that time.
Why he did so, that's
another debate but by doing so, he put his entire career in danger. He
confessed his crime, asked for an apology and admitted that his captain told
him to do so. But even his confession didn't help him. He was given six months
imprisonment and was banned from all types of cricket for 5 years.
According to Stephen King:
“Hope is a good thing, may be the best
of all things, and no good thing ever dies".
Amir kept his hopes alive,
time passed and finally his punishment came to an end.
His comeback is opposed by
many people. They argue that he has threatened the face of PAKISTAN, so he doesn’t
deserve to wear that green blazer again. Hence he should be kept out of
cricket.
But despite of all the
opposition, he finally stepped into the field again, made his domestic comeback
on 13 March 2015 and returned to international cricket on 15 Jan, 2016, playing
a T20 match against New Zealand.
His fans were expecting a
lot from him, but then he wasn't the same Amir that he used to be. Hard times
have left some marks on him that would definitely take some time to cure.
He is young, energetic, and
a very optimistic sportsman. He is working hard and his performance is
improving day by day. Recently in a test match, played between Pakistan and
West Indies, his performance was admirable. Still he is a great player but he
deserves much more than this. We hope that soon he will be succeeded in
attaining the glory that belongs to him.
He made a mistake because he
was misled and misguided by his leader. And was too young to deny the orders if
his captain. And pay the price of doing all this.
But it seemed that no one has learnt anything from his case. Still in PSL (2017) we saw some cases of
spot-fixing. PCB needs to take strong measures to educate and train players and
to keep a check on them. Because they are holding nation's dignity in their
hands and are not supposed to damage the image of Pakistan.
